What has following Jesus cost you?
What has following Jesus cost you?
“Following Jesus will cost you something. Following Jesus always costs something.”-Kyle Idleman
2 Timothy 3:12- “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”
The question is: what has following Jesus cost you? This is not a rhetorical question. Seriously, what has following Jesus cost you?
A job?
Healthy relationships with your family? (Luke 12:51-53)
Comfort?
Your freedom?
Friendships? (Matthew 10:22, John 15:19)
Here in America, following Jesus does not cost much. We can live as “Christians” while still chasing after the American dream of working hard and accumulating wealth. But can we really? Listen brothers and sisters: until your life becomes problematic due to your relationship with God, you are not living the lifestyle that God intended for you (2 Timothy 3:12).
This does not mean to seek danger, but it does mean that you will devote yourself to God which will result in danger. Or a loss of a job. Or a life of discomfort. Or even the loss of your life. God is not calling us to sit on the sidelines while the “religious freaks” do all the work. We all are going to play an active role in the building of God’s Kingdom (1 Corinthians 3:9). And this will cost you something. It always costs something.
